San Francisco has long been noted for being a historic city with lots to do and explore.  A recent addition to the city’s collection of great locales to stop and stay a while would be the San Francisco Proper Hotel in the mid-market area.  There was a great deal of thought and detail that went into this location.  It is evident throughout Proper how they have invested in an up and coming neighborhood on the cusp of gentrification.

My experience was stellar, easy and elegant from check-in to check-out.  I found the staffing of this property to be the best touch to my visit. From the valet to the bellman and in between, I felt my needs were surprisingly met,  exceeding my expectations. I took breakfast in my room since it was a working morning and have to say even the avo toast was fantastic! Presentation and taste were on point.  It seems they have thought of everything, detail is customized for the travelers comfort.

Location is everything and PROPER is situated in a neighborhood rich with renowned art organizations and theatres like the newly renovated Strand Theater, Orpheum Theater, Luggage Store Gallery, and other cultural institutions.  So plan ahead and stay a few days you won’t regret it. What is special about the PROPER is that brand-wide they are distinguished by design, service platform, community.  Truly special qualities needed within hospitality. Qualities that savvy luxury travelers have come to expect.

 

How did this flatiron landmark shape-shift into an alluring slice of west coast cool? Propers design team considered each and every detail to the creative extreme. Layering in a collection of neighborhood outposts for chef-driven dining and one-of-a-kind cocktailing, and moments of respite all the way to the cornice-crowned rooftop lounge. Allowing its deep beauty to unfold over the course of a guest’s stay. Herald the city’s first luxury lifestyle lodging to open in over a decade.

A few highlights of my trip: the cloud-like bed, in-room smart technology, and plenty of natural light streaming through the historic windows while I ate my delicious breakfast and sipped my gourmet french pressed coffee.  A modern PIEDS-À-TERRE I would visit again and again.
