DOUBLE-FACED?

Double weaving is an ancient technique that still has its place firmly in modern manufacturing. Making a double-faced garment requires special seaming and finishing techniques that are only possible through hand stitching. This results in each double-faced garment are unique.

What is double-faced? It is a very high-grade, double-woven fabric and it is made of high-quality cashmere, wool, silk, and other natural fabrics. It is essentially two thin fabrics threaded together to form a thicker fabric. Double-faced, or double-clothed means either side can be used. These particular fabrics have two right sides or faces and have no wrong side.

Double-faced fabrics are a form of double cloth made of one warp and two sets of wefts, or (less often) two warps and one weft. This also allows for creativity in the design of the garment.

For the Spring Summer 2020 season, Brunello Cucinelli has brought you this ancient technique in the form of a houndstooth blazer to the forefront from the hamlet in Solomeo.
