Remember the 90’s? Where Leonardo DiCaprio broke hearts with his curtained hair that was both perfectly quaffed and disheveled? We saw every heartthrob teen movie star from Brad Pitt to David Beckham rock that hairstyle, yet nobody really topped Young Leo. Well, you guessed it, it’s making its way back around. Mid-length, textured hair with pieces perfectly falling along the face are now, or again, the perfect, sought-after Summer 2018 men’s trending hairstyle.
The skin fades and the undercut hairstyles of early winter 2018 are now starting to grow out into longer locks, whether it be textured or straight, and men are telling their groomer that it’s “growing on them.” My job is finding a way to make it look summery since fades and shorter styles were the go-to “summer” style.
The cut has both shorter and longer layers throughout, seamlessly blending a graduated shorter underneath to the tousled longer layers on top. The sides are cut with scissors only, making sure to groom around the hairlines and ears without taking away from the softness of this haircut. There is no specific parting, but more of a gentle sweep back and to the side for a more relaxed look. Styling it can be as little as no blow drying, a towel dry would suffice, and using a shinier product like Brilliant Humectant to attract moisture for that all day “out-of-the- shower” look. For more finer hair, using Aveda Men’s Grooming Cream gives moisture and control throughout the hair without the added heaviness of a shinier product. Finish off the hair with the Texture Tonic for added movement and that desires “beachy” hairstyle for the Summer.
Don’t get wrong, the buzz cuts, fades, and cropped hairstyles aren’t going away this summer, rather, it can be nice to switch it up this summer.
