At 26-years-old, Miami resident Mariale Ramirez is nothing short of talented. This painter turned fashion illustrator decided to pursue her passion about a year ago and started Moda Illustrated. She sits down to talk about her creative process, how she came up with her name and who she would love to collaborate with one day.
LJ: How did you come up with the name Moda Illustrated?
MR: It happened after a long brainstorming process. I am from Venezuela so I thought it would be nice to have a word in Spanish somewhere in the name. I chose Moda which means fashion. The second part was easier, since most of the options I came up with had the word Illustrated next to it.
LJ: What is the art scene like in Miami?
MR:There is Art Basel of course, but there are also many galleries and creative spaces exhibiting great art year-round. It is very interesting and fun. I feel like the city hasn’t reached its full potential yet, but it’s definitely working towards it.
LJ: How long does it take you to create any given illustration?
MR: It usually takes me about two hours. Depending on the level of detail, it could take me more or less time.
LJ: If there is anyone in the world you could collaborate with, living or dead, to create an illustration who would it be?
MR: Katie Rodgers (@PaperFashion)
LJ: Is there an illustration you have done that stands out as your favorite?
MR: My recent illustration inspired on Amal Clooney. The dress has some great texture, and she gives a cheerful vibe I just love!
