Allegra Acosta

Actress, singer and dancer best known for her starring role as ‘Molly Hernandez’ in Hulu’s “Marvel’s Runaways” Allegra Acosta is a young female talent on the rise. Her character ‘Molly Hernandez’ (known as ‘Molly Hayes’ in the comics), is endowed with superhuman strength and is the “youngest and most innocent member of the friend group, [known] for her peppy positivity and deep yearning to belong.” Born in El Paso, Texas, Allegra moved to Los Angeles at age 10 in 2012 to pursue a career in acting after winning first place in a Los Angeles singing, acting and modeling convention.

In addition to appearing in several national commercials, Allegra is known for her role as ‘Aubrey Garcia’ in Nickelodeon’s “100 Things to Do Before High School” and her role as ‘Abigail’ in Gabriel Cowen’s short film LOS, based on a writing class Cowen taught at The Juvenile Detention Center.

Funniest/craziest thing that has happened on set?
One of the first times I got to work with Old Lace was one of the craziest and amazing moments for me. It was the one first day I worked with her and I had to do the almost fight scene with her. You can just imagine the chaos on set with all the special effects, directors, and me haha. I got the chance to work with stunts to learn how to roll down stairs and fight against a dinosaur. We were also shooting at this prehistoric mansion that just set the vibe of that scene.

Known by your friends as the __________ one?
I think I am known by my friends as the ‘eclectic’ one. I am a bit of everything. I live for adventures and just genuinely love living in the moment, but I also love having conversations about what’s going on in our world, dancing and watching movies.

Best advice you ever received?
Be patient and trust the process.

Tell us something about you that not many people know? Or might find surprising?
Some people don’t know that I am a singer as well. At a young age, I took classes, played instruments, and did some youtube videos. I would like to expand my career into music and I am preparing for those opportunities.

How do you most relate to your character Molly the most?
Molly and I are just overall firecrackers in the sense that we are quirky and live in the moment. I relate to Molly a lot actually, she is filled with enthusiasm and positivity, but she is also vulnerable and a genuine teenage girl. There is a maturity to her immaturity which makes her so special and fun to play.

Your character has super strength if you had to choose one superpower what would it be?
I would love a mix of super strength and flying. I like to believe it’s the ultimate cocktail to kick butt and have a dramatic exit. For example, you can take down any dangerous threat and then fly away into the stars. I just also love the idea of the sensation of flying so that would be amazing.
