Make a Reservation at the Redwood Room

Summer is coming to a close, what better way to usher in the new season than enjoying new cocktails and trying exciting dishes. The Clift Hotel’s Redwood Room in San Francisco has added some delicious new items to their already top-notch menu.

San Francisco is where legends are made, and this is one of the originals. Built as the first “earthquake proof” hotel in 1915 after the great earthquake of 1906, Clift fuses Old World elegance with modern and daring design, which perfectly captures the spirit of the city it inhabits. On a visit to this beautiful city, I  experienced the excellent service and decadent dishes of this highly recognized establishment. I’ve broken down what I ate and give you some insight on the new plates and drinks released last week. Everything that I tried was better than the next and I savored each dish to the last bite.

  • Vietnamese Chicken Bun with Pickled Vegetables and Spicy Hoisin Sauce ($12) —This was my guest’s personal favorite dish.
  • Chef’s Selection of Three Local Cheeses Served with Quince Paste and Walnut Croutons ($18)
  • Baby Lettuce Salad with Organic Strawberries, Chèvre and Toasted Almonds ($14)
  • Compressed Watermelon Salad with Lavender Infused Clift Honey with Pumpernickel Crisp, Chèvre, Watercress and Lemon Confit ($13)
  • Clift’s Homemade Caramel Ice Cream ($9)

My overall experience:

I enjoyed four appetizers a delicious caramelly dessert to finish out the night. Each dish was uniquely prepared in their own way. The watermelon salad stood out to me as the perfect dish for summer or warm nights in San Fransisco. The dimly lit ambiance and lounge atmosphere set  the  mood for an intimate evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. The Redwood Room is a must on your restaurant rotation.
