Terminology tips to impress your Hairdresser

Hair trends and techniques are constantly changing, but lets not confused trends and techniques, as they are two totally different things.

Let me give you an example…

Examples of Hair Trends :

Ombré is a prime example of a hair trend; where you transition several colors in a gradation effect from either dark to light or light to dark. Another great example would be Splash Lights; were you create a reflection of light within the hair color, typically done somewhere in the center of a section.

 

Examples of Hair Techniques : Balayage is a technique used to create very youthful looking natural or creative color dimension, with a sweeping motion. Smudging is an example of a technique used to diffuse two different colors in order to blend.

Many times people will confuse techniques with trends but the major difference is trends come and go but techniques will be around  until something easier or quicker is developed to create that certain trend.
