Breakout star Andrea Laing is certainly one to watch… While you may recognize her as a face from Delta Airlines in their 2022 campaign–not to mention numerous commercials– she’s also appeared in PAIN HUSTLERS (with Emily Blunt and Chris Evans), DOPE SICK, ATLANTA, and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, amongst many others. In her latest project, Andrea reprises the role of Zoe in Adult Swim’s YULE LOG franchise, YULE LOG 2: BRANCHIN’ OUT, now streaming on MAX. We caught up with Andrea to learn about her unique upbringing, her work as a comedian, her go-to style when it comes to travel, and what’s to come next…
You’re reprising the role of Zoe in Adult Swim’s YULE LOG with its second installment… What can fans expect with this time around?
I am stoked to reprise the role of Zoe in the next installment of Adult Swim Yule Log 2: Branchin’ Out. This franchise has such a unique blend of offbeat humor, existential twists, and dark comedy, so returning to this world feels like stepping into a strange, evolving dreamscape. Whether they are familiar with Casper Kelly’s work, the fans have come to expect the unexpected, and I think this next chapter is going to deliver on that in spades.
Without giving too much away, I can tell you that this sequel dives even deeper into Zoe’s psyche. She’s always been a character who oscillates between bewilderment and a strange sense of clarity, and we’re going to explore that balance in ways that are both absurd and genuinely emotional. Fans can expect more of that eerie, cryptic vibe that Adult Swim Yule Log is known for—those surreal moments where reality bends, and time feels… malleable. There’s definitely a growing sense of dread and intrigue, but also some wild, unpredictable comedy.
As an actress who is skilled in all genres, would you say you love comedy the most? If so, why?
I do have a special love for comedy although I also deeply connect with the challenges and nuances of drama, action, and other genres. Comedy has a unique ability to connect people, bring joy, and offer a kind of catharsis that is sometimes hard to find elsewhere. It’s a genre that allows for playfulness, spontaneity, and a kind of raw expression of human quirks and contradictions. The timing, the pacing, the physicality—comedy really taps into your instincts as an actor, so yes I’m a fan!
You were the face of Delta for their 2022 campaign voiced by Viola Davis. What was that experience like?
Working on the Delta campaign in Argentina was a dream project. I collaborated with an absolute top notch team: ICONOCLAST, director Nico Perez Veiga, DP Mauro Chiarello, creativity, logistical coordination, not to mention the absolutely stunning settings. The choice of location was both symbolic and breathtaking to emphasize Delta’s global reach and dedication to connecting people across cultures. In Buenos Aires we filmed between colorful neighborhoods, natural landscapes like Patagonia, the plains of the Pampas, and the mountains of the Andes. Plus adding Viola to any brand guarantees the project will be filled with the utmost respect, focus, and drive to make sure the message is significant. The days were long but absolutely worthwhile. I would 1000 percent do it all over again!
As someone who has been dubbed a travel guru, what would you say is your number one tip for anyone looking to take a trip alone?
My number one tip for anyone looking to take a trip solo would be to embrace the journey of self-discovery and be prepared for the unknown!
Every travel offers the opportunity to learn something new—about the world, about others, and about yourself. The goal is to enjoy the ride and see where it takes you, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
Of all of the places you’ve been able to travel to, where would you say has been your favorite and why?
Although I’m not a beer fan, Bruges is also known for their chocolate, waffles, rich history and culture. It has medieval charm as well as beautiful canals.
Bruges offers this unique sense of timelessness—where you can wander narrow streets, enjoy just about all the delicious Belgian treats, visit world-class museums, and leisurely soak up the atmosphere.
Do you have a favorite hotel or restaurant abroad?
I loved Hotel De Castillon in Bruges, it’s a small boutique family owned hotel. Centrally located, beautiful views, stunning rooms!
Hotel Danieli in Venice-Be sure to check out the rooftop
Serafina, Antica Osteria de Gino, Birraria La Corte – Venice restaurant
Cafe Sjiek- in Maastricht
What would you say is your go-to clothing item to pack whenever you travel?
I love exploring by foot so a comfy shoe is always a must have as well as a light jacket/hoodie. The weather can be quite unpredictable so I like to have something I can throw or or wrap around my waist just in case!
When not on the go or filming, what does your everyday style look like? Any favorite brands?
I am a huge fan of Zara and Fab’rik. Fab’rik offers beautiful boutique clothing without the exorbitant price tag and Zara just never fails me. Both are modern and chic and offer clothing that can easily transition from a day to night look. I’m a huge fan of being comfortable in the clothes you wear, whether that’s a simple tee with high waisted jeans or an oversized blazer. I usually have 2 modes: completely dressed up or absolutely chill. Both require a comfy shoe.
You grew up in Jamaica and North Carolina. How would you say your Jamaican roots have influenced you as an artist (if at all)?
Jamaica is a country with a deeply rooted sense of identity, particularly tied to its history of resilience, independence, and cultural pride. As an actress, this would mean owning who I am, embracing my heritage, history, and the stories that come from it. Jamaican culture teaches you to stand tall, regardless of where you are in the world or what challenges you face.
We also heard you also have a love for jazz music and play the harmonica for your plants. Where did you learn to play and what is it about jazz that you love most?
I kept receiving harmonicas as presents so I just decided one day to try my hand at it. Through mimicking tunes and trial and error, it became a fun hobby! My parents always had music strumming throughout the house when I was a kid and I feel like jazz is the ultimate form of artistic expression—where emotion, technical skill, and culture come together to create something unique. It’s an experience, not just a sound.
Lastly, if you could conjure up your dream role and who you would want to work with, what would that look like?
It is easily a dark comedy with Taika Waititi, Emerald Fennell or Jordan Peele directing!
