Trip Down Memory Lane: Fashion Week Recap

This Fashion Week was definitely the most mediocre in recent memory (in my humble opinion)

Badgley Mischka

My first show was Badgley Mischka. This was hands-down my favorite show of all of Fashion Week. I really loved the incorporation of 60s and 70s style fashion into some of their looks; there also seemed to be some Edwardian era influences. Two pieces that I was simply captivated by was this light brown jacket-poncho as well as this gold and red gown that looked like it was straight out of Game of Thrones. badgleymischka.com

Fashion Week with Domingo Zapata

My second show was a collection of “wearable art” by Domingo Zapata; in some cases, using the models as a canvas! Entitled “The American Dream” the show was a collaboration with designers Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, Custo Barcelona as well as Claudina Mata and was different than what you’re used to during NYFW. Although there were many different looks, I don’t think that the outfits weren’t meant to be the focus. The show also featured a performance by Thomas Handle and Madaline Stuart, the first top model with Down syndrome, walked the runway. dzapata.com

 Zelei Trace Valentine’s Soiree

I wanted to round out my Fashion Week trifecta with something a little more lowkey, and Zelei Trace’s Valentine’s Soriee, which was a nice transition from the end of Fashion Week to the weekend ahead. I enjoyed some champagne, marveled at the jewelry from Spear and Stone and learn a lot about their custom-ring creation process. spearandstone.com
