For Love of Lace: Madame Nadine

Inspired by mainly by the Victoria Era jewelry designer Nadine Deslauriers-Friesen incorporates gothic, steampunk and lolita into each creation. Her lace chokers are a sure standout in today’s trends. We caught up with the Canadian-based designer whose collection is appearing around the necks of some of the hottest girls on T.V and social media.

How did you get your start in jewelry:

I have a love for jewelry. In fact you can call it an obsession. I have always surrounded myself by making jewelry. I used to gift my designs to my friends and my family. My fan base grew rapidly and eventually, my friends suggested that I should sell them and start a business.

My portfolio and styles grew quickly. A colleague needed some steampunk pieces to put in gift bags to promote her books. This was unknown territory for me but, hey, I like a challenge!
As I continue to experiment with styles I have since then developed a Victorian feel using lace. Something so different. It all began from, a friend who makes handmade lace and later evolved to lace jewelry to the Pre-Golden Globes or the Pre-Emmys. DPA gifting suite “We want you! What inspires you?

I am inspired by the Victorian era. I love the lace and it is so feminine. I like to work with lace of course, and Czech glass beads and metal setting. The favorite part about being a designer is to be able to bring life to any pieces and see them on any women. I like to create timeless pieces and durable pieces. All my jewelry is lead and nickel free and the chain I use is soldered. My lavish collection takes things to the next level and features crystal embellishments guaranteed to make your nights shine.

How do you want women to feel in your pieces?

I want the women to feel empowered, my pieces are timeless one necklace bring infinite possibilities. You can wear them with your t-shirt and the same necklace will be a stunning complement to an evening dress. My designs are creative and unique, but quality and durability is my promise. Today my business is almost overtaking my day job. My daily pleasure is to dream up timeless pieces that can complement a variety of looks, from sensual and seductive casual but not least executive board.
