We teamed up with Planet Salon to find the easiest and best ways to style your hair this holiday season that is perfect for any office Christmas party or family get together. So here are some hairstyles to try for your next event.
Hair Styling
The first look is all about creating a fun, glamorous holiday style. To start, we protected our guest’s beautiful red hair color using Aveda’s Conserve shampoo and conditioner and then applied Aveda’s Confixor Liquid Gel for added bounce and curl retention. The hair was blown dry using a boar bristle round brush to smooth and volumize the hair while creating a deep side part. We then curled the hair with a 1 1/4” curling iron, wrapping the hair away from the face around the iron for a twisted curl effect and set each curl with Aveda’s Air Control Hairspray. After the curls were cool, we lightly brushed the hair and twisted the small side parting to the back and secured with hairpins.
The second look is perfect for a formal gala event but easily loosened for a more casual, relaxed style. To begin, we used Aveda’s Smooth Infusion shampoo and conditioner to smooth our guest’s naturally wavy hair. The hair was then blown dry using Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Styling Cream. We created a low side braid and secured with an elastic, then twisted the braid into a bun and pinned into place with bobby pins. Any wispy pieces of hair were curled around the face. If a more relaxed look is desired, the hair can be air dried instead of using a blow dryer using Aveda’s Texture Tonic while allowing more pieces of hair to fall out of the braided bun.
The final look is the classic sleek ponytail that can rock any holiday gathering. To start, we used Aveda’s Smooth Infusion shampoo and conditioner, then applied Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener for shine and thermal protection. The hair was blown dry straight down using a flat brush, then we flat ironed the hair from roots to ends parting the hair where desired and secure the ponytail with an elastic. Once secure, we took a small piece of hair and wrapped it around the ponytail to hide the elastic and secured into place with a bobby pin. Any flyaways were removed by spraying hairspray into your hand and smoothing the hair back towards the ponytail. The styling was finished using a light mist of Aveda’s Brilliant Spray-On Shine for added shine.
Makeup
The key to these festive holiday looks is all about having glowing, healthy-looking skin with vibrant, romantic red lips. Apply the appropriate tinted moisturizer to keep the skin soft and supple for a fresh look. Aveda’s Glacial Lotus eyeshadow was applied to the eyelid for a beautiful gold shimmer. The lips were then prepped with a light exfoliant to smooth the lips and moisturized using a hydrating lip balm. We then applied Aveda’s Poppy Ember Lip Color Concentrate for a lasting, vibrant lip color.
